Assessments
- Initial assessments
- Follow-up assessments (reviews)
- Second opinion assessments
These take about an hour and will involve gathering information from you, observing your child’s speech and language during play and completing formal and informal assessments.
I will provide you with a summary report following the assessment.
Therapy Sessions
In discussion with you, we will agree whether therapy sessions will benefit your child and will offer sessions based on factors such as your child’s readiness and motivation for therapy, and the impact their speech and language needs are having on them.
We will agree a set of goals/targets for your child and these will form the basis of the therapy. I will always try to advise you how many sessions and what frequency of session we will need to achieve these goals. Throughout the therapy, I will always let you know if I feel we are making the expected progress, or if any changes are needed.
Therapy sessions will be for 30-45 minutes, as deemed appropriate. I aim to make sessions fun and engaging for your child as this is how they learn best.
Working with Others
If your child is also known to an NHS Speech and Language Therapist please let me know so that we can work collaboratively.
In line with ASLTIP guidance, I will contact your NHS Speech and Language Therapist to collaborate and to ensure ongoing communication to facilitate your child’s progress through continuity of care. Liaison meetings or phone calls with other professionals will be agreed with you and fees will be charged as detailed.
